Catching Up

Though the year is not yet over we thought we would show off a little of what we were able to accomplish so far!

We were able to provide items to support the USS Gerald R. Ford Family Readiness Group’s annual baby shower. Besides the hand knit and crochet blankets we gave quilts, baby items and clothes. The baby shower hosted by the FRG is for the wives of deployed sailors. This year's event hosted 20 Mothers-to-be.

Even with COVID concerns The Goochland A.L.A. was able to host several safe Poppy events over Memorial Weekend. We had Legion family members at the Oilville Exxon, we prepared a no contact drive through station at the Legion Hall and the Juniors set up to collect in person at EZShip in Goochland.

On Flag Day we found ALA members passing out 144 flags at a local restaurant.

Our group collected school items to fill backpacks for Ft. Lee's Gold Star families and the local Y's Bright Beginnings project. This also supports The ALA's "Collect 10 for Education" program.

The Goochland Day parade had not only a Legion Family float but the Juniors walked in front and two riders followed on their bikes.

We hosted a yard sale as we do every year and had such a fantastic day we forgot to get any pictures for this blog post.

The Fall Bazaar finally came back and so did all of our amazing vendors and some new ones!

We have more in the works for 2021 and hope you'll help us, help others, where we can. Get involved with the A.L.A. or find out what we are up to by sending us a message!
